HISTORY
The Greater Kansas City Hispanic Development Fund (HDF) was established in 1983 under the leadership of Tony Salazar and other community leaders, with a $225,000 grant from the Hall Family Foundation. Mr. Salazar, the original chairman, leveraged additional contributions from local corporations and foundations. The current endowment of the HDF is 3 million dollars.

In 1984, the Hispanic Development Fund established the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) to pool community resources and leverage funds from colleges and private philanthropies for college scholarships.

Affiliated with the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation, the Hispanic Development Fund operates under the direction of its own Advisory Board comprised of local community leaders.
