Mattie Rhodes seeks support for its school retention services that will offer Hispanic youth and their families in the KCMO school district. These services include: family counseling, tutoring, visual arts education, parent involvement and life skill development. The board has approved $10,000.
LULAC-LNESC HSF Administrative Services Education $9,000.00
Description:
LULAC National Education Service center (LNESC) provides administrative services for the Hispanic Scholarship Fund.
El Grupo Atotonilco Costumes/Instructors Arts/Culture $4,000.00
Description:
El Grupo Atotonilco seeks support to pay for its instructors and new costumes for their 25th year Anniversary.
Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Youth Entrepreneurship Program Education $5,000.00
Description:
The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is seeking support for its Youth Entrepreneurship Program (a 3 day camp) that starts June 9-12. They would be working with High school Junior & Senior students from Wyandotte, Johnson and Jackson counties. The program consists of a local competition that will lead to a national competition in Texas.
Family Health Care Capital Campaign Capital $5,000.00
Description:
The Southwest Boulevard Family Health Care is a safety net clinic, servicing primarily the Armourdale, Argentine and Rosedale neighborhoods of KCK and Westside neighborhood of KCMO. It serves more than 8,000 people per year. It also provides counseling, educational classes, social service assessments and referrals, and palliative care.
First Step Fund Spanish-language First Step Fast Trac Program Education $5,000.00
Description:
The First Step Fund aids in the fight against the cycle of poverty by helping low-to moderate-income individuals become economically self-sufficient through entrepreneurship. First Step wants to expand its outreach by serving the Spanish-speaking community in the Kansas City metropolitan area.
